A cubical box with lid has a length of 30cm. Find the cost of painting the inside and outside of the box at Rs 5.50 per square metre.
Given:
A cubical box with lid has a length of 30cm.
To Do:
Find the cost of painting the inside and outside of the box at Rs 5.50 per square metre.
Solution:
Length of box (a) = 30 cm
1 cm = $\frac{1}{100}$ m
30 cm = $\frac{30}{100} = \frac{3}{10}$ = 0.3 m
Painting is done inside and also outside of the box.
So, find the total surface area of the box inside and outside,
Total surface area of cube = $6 (a)^2$
Total surface area of box inside and outside = $2 \times 6 (a)^2$
$2 \times 6 (a)^2 = 12 (0.3)^2$
$12 \times 0.09 = 1.08 sq m$
Cost of painting per sq meter = 5.50 ₹
Cost of painting 1.08 sq meter = $5.50 \times 1.08 = 5.94$ ₹
Cost of painting the box inside and outside = 5.94 ₹
