A bus travelled \( 56 \mathrm{~km} \) to the north of Delhi and then further travelled \( 110 \mathrm{~km} \) to the south from there. How far was the bus finally from Delhi?
Given:
A bus travelled \( 56 \mathrm{~km} \) to the north of Delhi and then further travelled \( 110 \mathrm{~km} \) to the south from there.
To do:
We have to find how far the bus was finally from Delhi.
Solution:
Let us consider the initial position as origin, south of it as positive and the north of it as negative.
This implies,
The position of the bus when it travelled to the north of Delhi $=0-56=-56$
The position of the bus finally $=-56+110=54$
Therefore, the final position of the bus is 54 km to the south of Delhi.
