2.5 cm cube of alcohol is mixed with 75 cm cube of water. Calculate the concentration of the solution.
Given:
Volume of solute = 4.5 cm3 = 4.5 ml
Volume of solvent = 125 cm3 = 125 ml
To find: concentration of the solution
Solutuon:
Volume of solution = Volume of solute + Volume of solvent
= 4.5 + 125 = 129.5 ml
Concentration = $\frac{Volume \ of \ solute}{Volume \ of \ solution} \times 100$
= $\frac{4.5}{129.5} \times 100$
$= 0.03479 \times 100$
= 3.749%
