Introduction

Indian Independence movement had seen growth between the years 1916 and 1918. This made the Home Rule movement popular and the main head of this movement was Annie Besant and Bal Gangadhar Tilak.

The primary objectives of this movement were to achieve supreme status against the British kingdom among developed countries like Australia. This movement was segmented into a couple of Home Rule Leagues. Tilak formed one of the leagues in the year April 1916 and Annie Besant formed the other one in September 1916.

The main wants of this league were Swaraj and the establishment of inappropriate languages.

Due to political factors, the leaders of India get split up and they were in a dilemma that whether to support Britain in the War. Both the leaders understood the importance of the Nationalist movement and the function of the Indian Congress party in the political part of India.
