Find the roots of the following quadratic equations by factorisation:
$100x^2 – 20x+ 1 = 0$
Given:
$100x^2 – 20x+ 1 = 0$
To do:
We have to find the roots of the given quadratic equation.
Solution:
$100x^2 – 20x+ 1 = 0$
$100x^2-10x-10x+1=0$
$10x(10x-1)-1(10x-1)=0$
$(10x-1)(10x-1)=0$
$10x-1=0$ or $10x-1=0$
$10x=1$ or $10x=1$
$x=\frac{1}{10}$ or $x=\frac{1}{10}$
Hence, the roots of the given quadratic equation are $\frac{1}{10}$ and $\frac{1}{10}$.
