Find the LCM of the following numbers in which one number is the factor of the other.
(a) 5, 20
(b) 6, 18
(c) 12, 48
(d) 9, 45

We have to find the LCM of the given pairs of numbers.
Solution :
(a) LCM of 5 and 20 is,
$5=1\times5$
$20=2\times 2\times5$
LCM of 5 and 20 $= 2\times 2\times5$
$= 20$
Therefore, the LCM of 5 and 20 is 20.
(b) LCM of 6 and 18 is,
$6=1\times6$
$18=2\times 3\times3$
LCM of 6 and 18 $= 2\times 3\times3$
$= 18$
Therefore, the LCM of 6 and 18 is 18.
(c) LCM of 12 and 48 is,
$12=2\times2\times3$
$48=2\times 2\times2\times2\times3$
LCM of 12 and 48 $= 2\times 2\times2\times2\times3$
$= 48$
Therefore, the LCM of 12 and 48 is 48.
(d) LCM of 9 and 45 is,
$9=3\times3$
$45=3\times 3\times5$
LCM of 9 and 45 $= 3\times 3\times5$
$= 45$
Therefore, the LCM of 9 and 45 is 45.
