(a) 6 and 8
(b) 12 and 18

We have to find the first three common multiples of the given pairs of numbers.

Solution :

(a) First few multiples of 6 are 6, 12, 18, 24, 30, 36, 42, 48, 54, 60, 66, 72, 78, 84, 90

First few multiples of 8 are 8, 16, 24, 32, 40, 48, 56, 64, 72, 80, 88, 96

Therefore, the first three common multiples of 6 and 8 are 24, 48 and 72.

(b) First few multiples of 12 are 12, 24, 36, 48, 60, 72, 84, 96, 108, 120

First few multiples of 18 are 18, 36, 54, 72, 90, 108, 126

Therefore, the first three common multiples of 12 and 18 are 36, 72 and 108.
