If a coin is tossed 2 times, what is the probability of (1) Getting head at least once? (2) Getting exactly one head?
Given :
A coin is tossed 2 times.
To do :
We have to find the probability of
(1) Getting head at least once (2) Getting exactly one head.
Solution :
When two coins tossed, possible outcomes are, {HH, HT, TH, TT}.
(1) Getting head at least once:
Probability of getting at least one head $= \frac{Number of favorable outcomes}{Total number of outcomes}$
$ =\frac{3}{4}$
Therefore, the probability of getting at least one head is $\frac{3}{4}$.
(2) Getting exactly one head:
Probability of getting exactly one head $= \frac{Number of favorable outcomes}{Total number of outcomes}$
$ =\frac{2}{4}$
$=\frac{1}{2}$
Therefore, the probability of getting exactly one head is $\frac{1}{2}$.
