C++ Forward_list Library - erase_after() Function

Description

The C++ function std::forward_list::erase_after() removes range of elements from the forward_list and modifies size of forward_list.

Declaration

Following is the declaration for std::forward_list::erase_after() function form std::forward_list header.

C++11

iterator erase_after (const_iterator position, const_iterator last);

Parameters

  • position − Iterator to the initial position.

  • last − Iterator to the final position.

Return value

Returns a random access iterator which points to the location from where element was removed.

Exceptions

If range is invalid then behavior is undefined.

Time complexity

Linear i.e O(n)

Example

The following example shows the usage of std::forward_list::erase_after() function.

#include <iostream>
#include <forward_list>

using namespace std;

int main(void) {

   forward_list<int> fl = {1, 2, 3, 4, 5};

   fl.erase_after(fl.begin(), fl.end());

   cout << "List contains following elements" << endl;

   for (auto it = fl.begin(); it != fl.end(); ++it)
      cout << *it << endl;

   return 0;
}

Let us compile and run the above program, this will produce the following result −

List contains following elements
