Course Description

  1. We start with an introduction on the course content and an explanation on the meaning of the BEE-Smart Logo.

  2. You will be made aware of the five building blocks of information capturing during your life long learning process.

  3. We will look at physiology of the brain to explain how these building blocks are cemented together to build an extraordinary building to form the basis of your thinking and communication abilities. We will further learn how some of these building blocks are misplaced to leave gaps that have a direct impact on your thinking and communication ability. The brain physiology will be described in an easy to understand manner with graphics and metaphors, just enough for you to understand. Detail is for the scientists and we leave it for them.

  4. During the application part of the course we will dissect words and formulas to stack the building blocks in the correct way in our brain, based on the physiological knowledge we have learned in the course up to this point. We will also realize that memory skills do not work because with just memorizing words or facts leave some building blocks out of the equation and useless for the thinking and communication processes.

  5. You will be guided through the self assessment.

  6. The last lesson will be a conclusion of the course, with useful downloads regarding the following topics: IQ vs Engrams, can IQ be learned, does and do nots for parents, how to teach for educators, how to improve your study results for students and how to enrich your thinking ability for employees and general public.

Title: "The Unseen Journey: A South African Tale of Education, Engrams, and BEE"

Twenty-five years ago, I embarked on a journey as an observer and perspectivist, crafting a course on learning based on brain physiology. Little did I know that the concept of Brain-Computer Interface (BCI) and Brain-Machine Interface (BMI) would confirm the course's content in recent scientific studies (Neuroscience News).

The crux of the course rested on the enigma of intelligence. Despite students appearing equally intelligent, their exam results portrayed a different narrative. Seeking answers, I delved into the hypothetical realm of "engrams," representing permanent changes in the brain accounting for memory. Although the Oxford dictionary still holds this definition, recent scientific revelations render it more than mere hypothesis.

Through self-study in brain physiology, I posited that engram formation encapsulates the brain's storage of information from birth. Crucially, the initial years lay the foundation for engrams that shape one's linguistic, cultural, religious, social, and temperamental identity through observation and stimulation. These early engrams persist throughout life, intertwining with subsequent ones. Your past invariably influences your future.

This perspective explained the academic disparities among students. Those from stable environments, rich in positive stimuli, thrived, their engrams providing a sturdy foundation. Conversely, students lacking these essential building blocks faced uphill battles.

The course, piloted with remarkable success, was poised to become part of the school curriculum through a publishing house. Yet, the hurdles of South Africa's Black Economic Empowerment (BEE) loomed. To engage with the government, I surrendered 51% of my business to BEE partners. The potential breakthrough collapsed when a university contract, promising a golden opportunity, was abruptly canceled due to alleged funding shortfalls. I lost everything, faced sequestration, and witnessed the demise of the publishing house.
