A father and son pushed their car to bring it to the side of road as it had stalled in the middle of the road. They experienced that although they had to push with all their might initially to move the car, the push required to keep the car rolling was smaller, once the car started rolling. Explain.

When the father and son push the car to move from the rest, they experience very large friction due to the heavy mass of the car, so they have to exert a large force to move it. Once the car starts moving, now they experience less friction as the friction gets changed into rolling friction which is very less than static friction. So, now they will to exert less force to keep the car into motion.
